What's New?

In the new version, a lot of things have changed.

Description

WebTranslator performs translations between English and five European languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Read what independent reviewers think about WebTranslator:

"WebTranslator is handy little program you can use to perform translations. Support is offered for English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Select the languages you're working with, and paste or type the text. One mouse click later, the text is translated. The actual translation engine is online, so you'll need an active connection, but you won't have long to wait -- even lengthy paragraphs are returned in seconds. This fine program performs admirably and can be a great asset when dealing with foreign text, email, or even chat." ZDNet (Five Stars)

"WebTranslator gives translation capabilities between English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. This utility's claim to fame is its size, kept small because the translation programs themselves are stored on line. WebTranslator is shareware for 30 translations, $39 to keep. Well, I must say the big limitation on any translator is its inability to deal with various idioms and idiosyncracies between languages, but I had fun with this as I translated one sentence from English to the five different languages and then copied, pasted, and translated back to English. The English sentence was simply "I want to subscribe to Neat Net Tricks." Back came these variations: "I want to subscribe ordered Nets to the turns;" "I want for signing to the tidy network pray-reprimands;" and, "I wish to abbonarsi to makes up clean accurate" in French, German, and Italian respectively. The Portuguese version came closest with "I want to subscribe to the pure liquid tricks" since I have been accused of having some watered down material at times. Finally, the Spanish version just gave up totally and didn't even attempt to translate back to English." Neat Net Tricks

"WebTranslator is a cool program that lets you translate English text to another language and vice versa. Impressively, the program supports German, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Translations are as easy as cutting and pasting text into WebTranslator. Text can originate from any source including web browsers, word processors, e-mail clients and help documentation. WebTranslator is extraordinarily simple to use. Once two languages are selected from pull-down menus, all that's required is a click of the "Translate" button. The program then produces translated text that can be transferred, via Windows clipboard, to another program. WebTranslator works well for words and sentences that are commonly used. WebTranslator is a miniscule 50kb because most of its work is done over the Internet. Consequently, a connection is required for the program to query its translation engine. However, translations are always relatively fast. The biggest question is how well the program translates. Obviously, while some languages translate easily to English, some do not. For example, I enjoyed more success reading French text than German text. WebTranslator works well for words and sentences that are commonly used. You may not have a whole lot of luck with slang. While I wouldn't recommend writing business letters with this program, it's great for simpler reading and writing tasks. This shareware version is fully functional, but expires after 30 translations. WebTranslator receives four smileys." Rocket Download
